CBD AND SLEEPLESSNESS

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, one of the many compounds found naturally in cannabis plants. Some people with sleep-related problems use CBD products, such as CBD oil, to help manage their symptoms. Unfortunately, due to restrictions on hemp/cannabis testing, more research is needed to verify the insomnia-relieving benefits of CBD oil, but the research is promising. The research suggests that CBD could provide a natural alternative for people who have sleep disorders.

CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found naturally in the hemp plant, Cannabis Sativa. It can be taken orally (as a tablet, capsule or gummy), sublingually (under the tongue as a tincture) or topically (applied to the skin as a cream) to provide a wide range of benefits.

CBD or Cannabidiol is legal in the UK provided it comes from an EU approved industrial hemp strain and contains no THC, but you need to be sure you are getting it from a reliable source. Hemp Well organic CBD comes from EU certified hemp grown, processed and lab tested on our own farm to ensure it is pure and contains accurate doses. We control the process from seed to shelf, so you can be confident that you are getting a high quality, fully traceable product. The human body contains a complex network of neurotransmitters and cannabinoid receptors known as the endocannabinoid receptor system (ECS). Research suggests that cannabinoids and the ECS may play a role in many body processes and that the skin contains cannabinoid receptors.

In order to understand whether CBD could help a specific person's sleep, it is important to try to determine what is causing their sleep problems in the first place. There are several reasons why people have sleep problems, including but not limited to:

Mental health problems such as stress, anxiety and depression
Medication (some medications can disrupt your natural sleep cycle)
Physical discomforts such as chronic pain or restless legs syndrome
Caffeine (especially if consumed late in the day)
Environmental factors such as loud noise or too much light

CBD may not be a solution to an uncomfortable bed or stop you reaching for that cup of coffee, but research has shown that CBD can have a positive effect on sleep. Anxiety and stress, which can cause sleep problems, could be helped by CBD.

Pain, which can also cause sleep problems, could possibly also be helped by CBD. A 2018 report noted that there is evidence to support the claim that CBD eases pain. In the review, the authors note that by reducing chronic pain, CBD could improve sleep. It is worth noting that in several of the studies referenced here, the patients involved in the trials did not notice an immediate improvement in sleep. Improved sleep was more likely after up to a month of regular CBD use. Remember to be patient when trying CBD, and if you need help determining dosage, you can always reach out to us.
